SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS — Casey Development Ltd., the firm behind some of the most recognized office buildings in the city, is once again staking its claim in North Central San Antonio — this time, in the area surrounding distinguished lifestyle center Alamo Quarry Market. The firm’s latest project, the Sunset Professional Building, will span nearly 58,000 square feet at 430 Sunset Road, located on the hard corner at West Sunset and Treeline Park. The general contractor is Baxter Contracting LLC, a division of Casey Development. Locally based GRG Architecture designed the building, which is slated to come online next March.

The Sunset Professional Building will be a trophy project in one of San Antonio’s most sought-after submarkets, says Darren Casey, president and founder of Casey Development. “We’re excited to kick-off construction on our Sunset office building and to add needed, quality office and professional space in this desirable area,” Casey adds. “The prime location and the high-end finishes will ensure high demand among tenants that want to be in a true Class-A office building in San Antonio’s midtown.”

Construction got under way with two noted tenants already in tow: BHS Physicians Network Inc., which is affiliated with the Baptist Health System; and WellMed. Together, these healthcare providers will occupy roughly half of the Sunset Professional Building. The leases are representative of the evolution of the trade area into one of San Antonio’s newest medical hubs, observes Casey, who spoke of this trend in a recent interview with the San Antonio Business Journal.

“The whole Sunset area between 281 and Broadway has been very active. You’ve seen buildings coming down and new medical buildings popping up,” states Casey in the Business Journal article. Casey, however, is confident that the Sunset project will fill a niche among medical and traditional office users. “Before we ever break ground on any project, the Casey Development team does a thorough analysis of the surrounding area,” Casey continues. “In the case of the Sunset Professional Building, we have witnessed the transformation of the Sunset corridor into a thriving commercial area. There have been several redevelopment projects in the area, but no Class A office projects of the quality of the Sunset Professional Building. Our building will appeal to both traditional office and medical office users.”
